The beauty of dancing and moving your body not only provides an audience the chance to observe and interpret what one is seeing; one also connects mind and body.

Many cultures have their own dance. In Catalonia Sardana, Ireland have their own Irish dance, Spain has Flamenco, Argentina with Tango and Folklore, Brazil shows off with Samba and Capoeira. Smashing plates in Greece. There is always a spectacle for locals, tourists and travellers.

Dance unites tradition, ancestors, and the people of today. Having existed for thousands of years, the discovery of ancient paintings in Egypt and India provide examples of dance.

Community

Towns and villages all over the world celebrate life with dance. It is a way of expression through movement. To tell stories, to feel the vibe of the beats, to honour tradition; dance brings people together.

Festivals, religious ceremonies, rituals, important events and dates, there is always room for dance.

Dance and the Body

By dancing emotions are liberated from the body, one fills themselves with joy and happiness. The dancer disconnects from the external world and dances with their body and being.

Dance has so many benefits for the body such as better coordination, agility and flexibility, improved cardio function, an increase in muscular strength and improved tone and strengthening of the bones. These are some of the examples – there are many more.

Dance also has social benefits; psychological and general wellbeing is improved through dance it becomes easier to create new social relationships by gaining physical and self-confidence and self-esteem.
